British Embassy in Colombia promotes new opportunities for implementation partners

The British Embassy in Colombia is hosting an event on 6 October 2016 to promote the new opportunities through the UK Prosperity Fund bilateral programme in Colombia between 2017 and 2021.

As part of the UK’s Prosperity Fund – worth £1.3bn over the next 5 years to promote the economic reform and development needed for growth in partner countries – £1m has been allocated for funding across 10 projects in Colombia during 2016-17.

With these underway, the Prosperity Fund is now focusing on supporting large-scale, multi-year programmes linked to the FCO’s priorities. The British Embassy is therefore developing programming options for a significantly scaled-up bilateral programme in Colombia over the next four years of the fund. The embassy is currently assessing implementation options to deliver the programme objectives, with the overarching one being to unlock economic opportunities in post-conflict regions of Colombia. It is likely to focus on the following themes: institutional capacity building, anti-corruption, urban development, rail development, and agriculture.

The event will share information on the programme, and assess interest and capacity of potential implementing partners.
